India Border ( Jaigaon) to Thimphu:

The easiest way to reach Phuetsholing is from Siliguri, India. You can arrive at the city from different medium of Wagon through road or flight. After arriving in New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)/ Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus (Junction) / Siliguri. We suggest you to take a local taxi up to Indian border. It is called  Jaigaou Border, After necessary border formalities ( both India and Bhutan Border) Meet our Guide at Bhutan side at Phuentsholing. Then drive to Thimphu the capital of Bhutan. It takes 4 to 5 hours which is about 165km to Thimphu town. You will have enough time to stop for Tea/coffee while driving to Thimphu.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Phuentsholing

Firstly, after arriving in Jaigaon ( Indian part) Phuentsholing ( Bhutanese Part) our representative will meet and greet you at India-Bhutan border. You will be helped to complete the visa or permit formalities by them and transfer you to the hotel. Phuentsholing is the administrative seat of Bhutan and situated at an attitude of 980 feet.  The small town located opposite the Indian town of Jaigon. It is among the main business hubs and popular commercial centre of Bhutan. Overnight at Phuentsholing.

Day 02: Phuentsholing to Thimphu

Way to Bhutan’s largest and Capital city, Thimphu after breakfast. It would take approx 7 hours/ 172 km from phuentsholing town to Thimphu. On the way, you can enjoy the amazing landscape, water falls, the different national parks and other natural beauties. Overnight at Thimphu.

Day 03: Thimphu Sightseeing

Thimphu is a very charming city and full of amazing Buddhist heritages. We can proceed for the full day sightseeing which includes Buddha point, The memorial chorten, National Library, School of arts and crafts. Also, you can visit the other points like nunnery temple, The majestic  Tashichho Dzong and other monasteries. Although, Some of the sites may closed during weekend( Saturday and Sunday). Instead of that we can feel the local market these days. Overnight at Thimphu.

Day 04: Thimphu to Punakha via  Dochu la Pass

Processed for the Punakha in morning,  drive over the Dochu-la pass( 3,100 meters) from where the magnificent  view of snow capped mountains can make you feel special on a clear winter days. Next, we go through the beautiful countryside areas, rhododendron trees and magical forests. Also, you will visit the Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple on the way. Chimi Lhakhang is dedicated to the divine matman or Lama Drukpa kuenley which was built in 1499.

Punakha was the old capital of Bhutan till 1955. After arrival, Visit Punakha dzong, “The Palace of Great Happiness” was built by Shabdrung in about 1637. It is located between the meet point of Mo Chu and Pho Chu (Father and mother) Rivers. Punakha Dzong is the second Oldest and Second largest Dzong in Bhutan. In Punakha and Wangdu you can deeply feel the rural lifestyle and traditional culture of Bhutanese People Overnight at Punakha. 

Day 05: Punakha to Paro

After the breakfast way to Paro via the Do Chula Pass. There, we can visit the new Druk Wangyal Monastery which is the only one of its kind in the country. The route from Punakha to paro is through Thimphu city. Overnight at Paro. 

Day 06: In Paro

In morning, after the breakfast hike(4-5 Hours) to Taktsang( Tigers Nest). Taktsang is a Monastery which was constructed by Gyalsey Tenzin Rabgye in 8th Century. According to the locals, Guru Rinpoche (Spiritual Leader) was flown on the back of tigress from Tibet to taktsang to meditate and explore the Buddhism in Bhutan. The most popular monastrey is located at a height of 3,180m on the cliff of a hill. After the hike down to the paro valley, We will explore kichulanka Monastery, national museum, Paro Rinpung Dzong and other art, cultural sites. You can stroll around the Local Market. Overnight at Paro.

Day 07: Final Farewell

Breakfast in the hotel,  On the farewell day transfer you to the airport because the flight is in early morning to avoid any adverse bad weather condition. If you are not flying, we will drop you at phontsholing to your onward destinations. Tashi Delek!
